Tealight Candle

Sit back and relax, everything is ready for you to learn something new.

Most people have plenty of candles on hand in case of an emergency or for special candle lighting events, such as a birthday or Christmas. Candles add warmth and glow to any occasion, be it special or not. A tealight candle is a smaller version of a 2 inch votive candle or the full sized, pillar candles, and are great additions to any home even with their diminutive size. Unlike their bulkier cousins, they can be used in a variety of applications ranging from one in a simple candle holder to a relaxing bathtub surrounded by their tiny burning wicks.

The Yankee Candle company has several smaller versions of their most popular scents. You can have a tealight candle in apple pie, balsam & cedar, fudge ripple or even berry jam. There are also non-food scents as well. But have you heard the saying that burning an apple pie scented candle is a great way to curb your appetite. There is no concrete evidence to attest to this theory, but a warm, apple pie scent is always a great addition to any household.

Tealight candles can be used to burn oil in oil burners. Simply pour in the essential oil into the ceramic or terra cotta bowl, add a little water and light the candle beneath. It will provide just enough of a heat source to warm up the oil and diffuse it throughout the room. You can also use tealight candles in decorative dishes, in beveled glass candle holders or in those miniature fountains that go onto your desk. Light the candles, turn on the fountain and enjoy a sparkling show of flowing water and light.

If you are thinking about making your own tealight candles, then you may want to know something first. These little candles are very inexpensive to buy. You can visit a dollar store and pick up a package of ten for one dollar. That may be worth the price versus making your own.

If you are unsure of buying a full size candle at a retail store or specialty shop, then you can at least give the tealight candle version a try. They are very inexpensive and you can find many of the same great scents in these smaller versions. There are plenty of websites where you can buy these small candles, such as Ebay or your local dollar store. Even big name companies often will sell their full size versions in these small sized, decor candles. That way you can try as many scents as you like.

Today's Tip On Candles

Something you might want to consider, along with your candles, is teaching candle making classes if you are an experienced candle maker. This is a hobby that many people are picking up. If you sell the supplies on hand you will be able to charge for the classes and charge for the actual supplies that the people will need in order to make their own candles at home.
