Ear Candles
A good article for this topic. Being recommended by many readers we strongly advice you to relax and enjoy the following.
Candles are used for many reasons. They may be wonderfully scented candles that are used to light the home and provide a fantastic scent. They may be used in a candle lighting ceremony to mark a birthday celebration, wedding, anniversary or even a graduation. But have you ever used ear candles? These candles are not made from ear wax and they are not candles shaped like an ear. They are a part of an alternative medicine practice that dates back thousands of years.
The use of ear candles is called ear candling. It is a procedure that is supposed to remove the impurities, wax build-up and more from the ear canal. Some people believe it will clear the mind, cure Meniere's syndrome, stop the need for tubes and can align the chakras and open the spiritual centers of the body. But from where did this supposed alternative medicine practice originate?
It is said to have been used by the Ancient Tibetans, Egyptians and even by the people from the mythical city of Atlantis. The Atlantean reference may be what is causing so many people to doubt whether or not these paraffin wax or beeswax candles actually work. You are not supposed to use any scented candles and you should also not use any colored candles. So put away those sixteen candles from the birthday party. They will not work.
Here is how the method is supposed to work. A person lies on his or her side and a plate is placed above the ear. This plate is usually a tin pie plate with a whole cut into the center. The small candle is inserted into the hole and inserted into the ear canal. The other end is lit and the smoke and gentle heat is filtered down into the ear canal to rid the body of its impurities. Afterwards, a cotton swab is used to clean the canal and outer ear. You should be able to see the impurities on the tin plate and on the cotton swab.
Here is where the doubt comes into play. Ear candling uses ear candles. Candles give off debris and soot as they are burned. Those materials are what accumulate on the plate. This has been proven by researchers and has been tested time and time again. Each time there was no verifiable results and there are even dangers associated with using the ear candle. Paraffin wax is extremely hot when it is dripping next to the ear canal. It could have serious repercussions if dripped into the ear canal itself. You have to decide whether or not this is the real thing or it is simply a medical hoax.
